General Articles Used in Every Puja

Each puja involves various sacred items that may vary depending on the specific ritual, but the following are typically used:

  • Lord Ganesha Idol and Picture: Placed on the altar as the presiding deity.
  • Kalash: Filled with holy water (Gangajal).
  • Chowky with Red Cloth: Used for seating all Gods, Goddesses, Planets, and Deities to invite their presence.
  • Prayer Essentials: Agarbattis (incense sticks), Camphor, Lamps with Ghee and wicks, Sandalwood paste, Kumkum, Rice, Milk, Curd, Ghee, Sugar, Perfume, Fresh Fruits, Betel Leaves, Nuts, Coconut, Mouli, Flowers, Malas, Durba, AartiThaal, Sweets (Naivedyam), Dry Fruits, Food for Brahmins, Cardamom, Clothes for Brahmins, Janau (sacred thread), GulabJal (rose water), BilvaPatra, HavanSamagri, Havan wood for the nine planets (Samidha), Jau-Tal, Guggal, Mustard Seeds, Kamal Kakdi (Lotus Beads), Astgandh, and more.

General Puja Procedure

  • A learned Purohit takes the Sankalp (vow) in the client’s name, initiating the puja with the recital of mantras.
  • A team of Brahmins joins to ensure thousands of recitals are completed within a specified time.
  • Afterward, a Homam (fire ritual) is performed, where offerings such as Ghee, Prasad (sweets, fruits, coconut), and other sacred items are made to Agni Dev (Fire God) while chanting the deity’s mantras.
  • The puja concludes with an Aarti and all items intended for the client (Yantra, Rudraksha, etc.) are energized during the ritual before being sent as Prasadam (blessed offerings).

How the Puja is Performed

  1. Asanas are set for all the Gods, Goddesses, Navgrahas, and other deities.
  2. A Ghee Lamp is lit to mark the beginning.
  3. SwastiVachan is performed, where Guruji seeks blessings for the client’s welfare.
  4. A Shanti Path is recited, praying to all deities using sacred Ved Mantras.
  5. A Sankalp is taken on behalf of the client, appointing a Brahmin to represent them throughout the ritual.
  6. Pujan is done for various deities, including Devi Ganga, Lord Surya, Lord Ganesha, KalashDev, Goddess Lakshmi, Navgrahas, Lord Brahma, and Agni Dev.
  7. A special puja is conducted for the prime deity, Yantra, and required mantras and stotras are recited as per the ritual.
  8. A Homam is performed, invoking Agni Devta and offering a paste of Oat, Ghee, Til, Guggal, Mustard Seeds, and HavanSamagri in fixed numbers, based on the puja type.
  9. The ritual concludes with Purnahuti, where a coconut filled with Ghee and sacred items is offered to Agni Devta.
  10. An Aarti is performed for the deity, followed by additional Vedic rituals.
  11. The Prasadam (charged items) are blessed by Guruji and packed for delivery.
  12. Finally, participating Brahmins are offered food and Dakshina (donation) in the form of fruits, clothes, and money.
